Running Update....

Running is going slowly but surely. I am doing the walk/run concept and running about 3 or 4 times a week. I am only up to 20 miles per a week but I hit the gym at least 3 times a week to do some weight training and cross training. So far I think it does help although it might just be in my head. I have done alot of my runs on the treadmill that way I can build myself up. And let me tell you that is more of a mental battle with that dang machine than anything else. It is sooo hard to stay on there for longer than 30 minutes or so. I put a towel over the screen but yet am still peaking every minute or so. I usually have to take a mental 1 minute break about 40 minutes into it just to tell myself that I am not going to let this stupid machine beat me.

I am doing about 5 miles each time I go out and try to get a longer run in on the weekends. I actually ran 10 miles this weekend. I was super duper excited with myself. I did it rather slowly though. I feel like I can walk faster than I can run. I also learned that running by yourself for longer than 8 miles is no fun. No real pain just some pain in the lower back and shins due to old shoes. But I quickly took care of that and ordered some new ones. They should be here after Christmas.

As far as what is next... looks like I might start training for Nashville!! I also am planning on doing the Austin Marathon but only as a training run. I am planning on pacing my friend. She wants to break 5 hours so I thought I would keep her company.
