We also worked on our flip-turns!! I got alot of water up my nose the 1st few times but after that I was pretty good. I can't wait to really try it with pushing off the walls and not pretending. I forgot how much I missed being in the water. What is also a plus that is class is pretty small so we get alot of attention and Foho's boyfriend is in my class too. We also got a cool Rogue towel for being in the class!!

NKOTB Concert !!!!

Judi and I has 2nd row seats!!! We had the best time ever. We even wore our old shirts from 1990!! That means they are almost 20 years old!! And they still fit, double bonus. Mom found Judi's and wanted to know if she should wash it and she said "no mom, it might fall apart!! Those shirts truly are vintage. The concert was awesome. They did all the same dances they did back in 1990's. This will be a night I will remember for along time. Anyway, here are a few pictures from the show.

Update......

Doesn't look good. I have bad news and good news. First with my left heel, looks like I have the same thing I did in July. I took some time off and it felt alot better but now it is back. But this time it doesn't look that bad. So that is good right? Maybe it is because I actually listened to my body this time and backed off some on the running instead of pushing through the pain. We are going to try rest to see how it does than if not try something else.

Now there is my right tibia. I do show signs of shin-splints but no biggie there. But the main problem is there is an impending fracture. And with my history of having a fracture there before we are going to treat it like one. So I have crutches and a boot. I will have to be on crutches for about a week or two then the boot until then pain goes away. Looks like I might be out for up to 6 weeks depending on how quickly I can heel.

Still waiting....

My official appointment is tomorrow at 10am. But I am going to bug Dr. Welsh today to see if he will tell me anything. I went to the gym and did some cardio for about 30 min. I forgot how boring it was. I thought I was going to die after just 30 min. It has only been less than a week and I already miss running. I missing waking up at all hours of the early morning. I miss eating whatever the heck I want to and not have to worry about gaining weight. Most importantly I missing my running buddies. I have worked soo hard this past few months and feel like I have pushed myself to my limits and was looking forward to see what I could do out in California. It just seems so out of reach right now, but I am trying to keep my chin up. Mentally I am doing okay, just going alittle crazy because I can't run. I am going nuts over here. The past few days I didn't miss it so much because it was raining pretty hard but I love running in the rain and jumping in all of the puddles just like I was a kid. And when I woke up today I actually got really sad because the weather is perfect for running. Nice and cool.

My left heel pain is getting alittle better. I have found out that (Coach Killer if you are reading... please stop because I know I am not supposed to do this) if I wear heels that the pain isn't there. I am assuming because I am putting pressure on my forefront of my foot instead. So lately I have broken out all of my cute heels. That make me happy. Ever since I read about Katie new red shoes I have been wanting to put mine on again too so now is the chance to wear them. But yes the pain is still there. I am still limping around. I didn't think it was that bad but my friends are starting to notice and ask me questions about what is going on. Sometimes it isn't so bad but sometimes I just want to chop off my foot to make it go away. As far as my tibia in my right foot, that seems to have gotten alittle worse. When I went to the gym it was pretty achy and I to stop and slow down that way the pain wouldn't get worse. I am keeping my fingers crossed though. I promise to keep you up to date as soon as I find something out.

Thanks for all of the well wishes. It means alot knowing I have such great running friends that care about me.

Skirt Chaser 5K Race

I signed Tim and I up for the skirt chaser race. I signed up because I thought it would be a great bonding experience for us. I also wanted to share with him something I love to do which is run. This is such a great race. The ladies get a 3 minute head start then they start the men. Tim and I bet if he could catch me. Normally I knew if never would but since I have been having some heel and tibia issues I thought maybe he could. The race start was pretty uneventful. I gave Tim a kiss and was off to the start line. Within .25 of a mile I knew this wasn't my day. The pain in my tibia was bad. Not to mention it was pretty hot and humid out there. The race was at 5pm and I was dying just standing there. Anyway, I just slowed down and tried to get my breathing down. Nope that never happened. I figured oh well, it is only a 3 mile race and I will survive. But I didn't. The pain just got worse and I never had control over my breathing. Maybe I need to start using my inhaler more regularly. So I walked/run the rest of the way. Tim finally caught me the last 100 yards of the race. I am very proud of him. He did about 8:00/miles. My final time was about 23:05. With the course being short, I ended up with around a 9:00/mile pace. Which usually I wouldn't be proud of but I did was about 3 times to walk and stopped to tie my shoe. With all of that wasted time and pain in my tibia, I still ended up with a 9:00/mile. Looks like Team Rogue is paying off!!

Not good news....

I have been having some pain in my left heel for about a month now. I am also having some problems over the past couple of weeks in my right tibia. The heel (calcaneus) pain started back in July. I went to go see the doctor and we had a MRI done. The report showed planter fasciitis and some inflation in the heel area. It didn't show a stress fracture but the doctor was concerned that it could turn into one if I wasn't careful. He was concerned enough to tell me to take 3 - 4 weeks off. That meant NO RUNNING at all, which was sooo hard. He told me to be very careful when I started to ramp up again. I did just as the doctor ordered and felt great when I started up again. Fast forward to now and the pain is back. But now it is back towards my heel, where he thought my fracture could develop. Not good. Since then my left quad has been a problem lately too. But I think it is because my left side is trying to compensate for my heel pain. I got some ART and it seems to be helping. Now there is the issue with the tibia pain in the other leg. I do have a history of a stress fracture in that leg. Not only did I have a stress fracture but I ran on it for about a month and didn't even know it. So when this pain started happening I am pretty concerned. It is in the same area on the same foot. I was one of those people that thought if I didn't tell anyone that maybe it would go away on its own and it hasn't. And it is probably just making things worse by doing it that way. The pain is still here and getting worse. My doctor now wants me to get a MRI or bone scanning. I just got done paying off my last MRI so I am trying to find the cheapest way of finding out the problem. Yes I do have insurance but those tests aren't fully covered. Now I have to get 2 (one on each leg). So no Soul Buster#2 for me. :( Looks like I may be out for awhile. Please keep your fingers crossed.

Time: 5:20PM

Duration: ~38:04
Location: My hood

Sport: Running
Workout: Easy 4 Miles
Distance: 4.1 miles
Weather: upper 80's
People: Tim

I had a rough morning. I had a bowl of Frosted Flakes and it just didn't sit well with my stomach. I had a tummy ache all morning. I was supposed to go cheer some friends on at the Longhorn Tri, but I could barely get out of bed. My stomach was just not happy. I am lactose -intolerant but usually I am okay. But not this morning was the worst. My tummy was making some noises I have never heard before. Finally after I let it settle all morning and afternoon, Tim and I went for a nice and easy run. I wore my new shoes that I bought "just to wear around the house". They are like my regular running shoes, stability plus but just at a cheaper cost. I really like them. Tim and I were pretty slow at the beginning but picked up the pace towards the end. According to my watch my time was 38:04 but that seems kinda fast. With that time our pace would have been 9:18/mile. It was nice having a running partner.

October 4,2008

Time: 5:25AM
Duration: ~3:30
Location: Rogue Equipment

Sport: Running
Workout: 22 Long Easy Run
Distance: 20.25 Miles
Weather: upper 50's
People: Team Rogue and PP

I got to Rogue just in time to meet up with my regular long run folks. We made it up Mt. Bonnell with no problem. I had no trouble keeping up with them until I had to make my port-a-potty stop on Shoal Creek. That is where I lost them and my heel started to hurt. I had to stop a couple of times to look at my map to make sure I didn't get lost. Once I got to the IM fields off Speeday I figured I would just cut the run short to prevent further injury. Robyn then caught up to me so we ran the rest of the 8 or so miles together. It was great catching up with her. I haven't really gotten a chance to talk to her much lately. The good news is that my quad didn't really hurt at all but my heel is starting to hurt really really bad. I think my mind set is on the borderline from meeting my goal time of 3:45 to just finishing the marathon in December no matter what time.

Sport: Running
Workout: Easy 4 or 5 Miles
Distance: 5.08 miles
Weather: upper 50's
People: Me!!

I pressed the snooze button a couple of times but figured if I kept pressing it than I wouldn't have time to do the workout in the morning and have time to get ready for work. I would have to do it in the evening, but Mom and I had made plans plus Grey's is on tonight too (it better be a good one). I don't have a problem once I am up but it just takes me alittle while to get out of bed. After I am out of bed I am good to go. I quickly got dressed and was out of the door. My quad seems to be doing better today. It did hurt some but it went away. I think speed has something to do with it. I will try to go get ART tomorrow. I also really worked on my form and trying to keep my legs and upper body relaxed. I had a great run. I even wore short-sleeves today!! I think fall finally might be here.

Overall Pace 9:21/Mile

Mom W.'s 60th Birthday!!

We celebrated Mom's W. birthday last night in Austin. Dad W. surprised Mom W. with a new bike. So here is she is trying out her new wheels. Soon she will be leaving Lance Armstrong is the dust with this new bike.
Then we headed to Lambert's to have dinner.

She got a great new bike from Dad W.. Tim and I got her flowers and decorative fall arrangement from Pottery Barn. Katie got her an Ironman visor and made a couple of cd's for their road trip to Colorado. We had an awesome evening. Happy Birthday Mom W.!!

I did the regular Escarpment/Davis/Beckett/Convict Hill loop. My quad was alittle tender from last nights ART but after a mile or so it started to loosen up. After that I was feeling golden. I must say I am loving fall weather!! It is now time to break out the short-sleeves!!

September 30,2008

Location: Anderson High School

Sport: Running
Workout: 1 mile w/up, 4 X 2k @15K Pace , 1 mile c/d
Distance: 4.5 Miles
Weather: Fall weather!!
People: Team Rogue

Not a good day for me. I did the 1 mile warm-up then got some water and was off. I was feeling pretty good on the loop until we hit Steck. Then my quad started acting up on me. I pushed through it to finish up the 1st Loop. I quickly got some water and was off again. I started my 2nd loop but my quad really started getting upset at me. I could hear Foho footsteps behind so I pushed as long as I could but my quad just wasn't having it. She passed me and I tired just to suck it up and keep my eyes on her little blue butt (she was wearing blue shorts) hoping she could help me to the finish. No luck. I ended up stopping after the 2nd loop and got some ART. I swear the ART hurt worse than the workout. I was screaming like a baby. I told Coach Killer that I would rather do the workout than the ART. Dr. had me sweating up a storm just sitting there working it out. After I got fixed up I did the cool-down with Brian.
