I originally was going to skip this run but after some peer pressure from my fellow Team Rogue members I figured I might as well get'r done. The cold front had blown in yesterday and it was just too cold to run outside. I am a wuzz and my lovely husband is sick and I have a feeling I might get whatever he has from him. Between tax season and my training schedule. I don't have time to get sick. Anyway, I rushed out of work as quickly as I could and hit the treadmill. Did an easy run and it did feel good.

This is my favorite class!! I love it. The instructor is awesome. I just love DeeDee. She always pushes us to finish sets, not cheat, and challenges with our weights. When I wasn't running, I would always go to this class but now since I am running more and my work schedule is different I don't have time to make it as much. I can tell too. The class kicked my butt and then some. I was happy to be done and will go back again. My upper body is so weak. I look forward to strengthing it up again.

Sport: Running
Workout: Easy 10 Miles
Distance: 10 Miles
Weather: Warm and muggy
People: Brenda

I meet up with Team Rogue to do our medium long run. I started with my usual group but for some reason I couldn't get my breathing under control. It could have been that we were going uphill for about 3 miles and it was very muggy outside. After I hit my 1st water stop I finally started to feel alittle better. Most of my running crew was going 12 or more but I didn't want to. Brenda mentioned she wasn't feeling well so she was going to cut it short and run 8. I told her that was fine with me. I didn't want to run by myself and I didn't want her to run by herself either. We started our adventure back. We had some good girl talk about everything and anything. We were only planning on doing 8, but after getting lost a few times it turned into 10.

January 25,2009 - 3M Half-Marathon

Time: 7:00AM
Duration: ~2:02
Location: Race Course - basically from Gateway shopping center to downtown

Sport: Running
Workout: Easy Half-Marathon Race
Distance: ~15 Miles with warm up, race, and cool down
Weather: Cold
People: Matt H. and Foho (for the last 3 miles or so)

Since this is one of my favorite races, I thought I would do it again as an easy run. I found out that Matt was doing it too so asked if we could run together. I haven't seen him in along time and figured this would be a good way for us to catch up on each other's lives. He wanted 2:15 but we had agreed on 2:10 but I said I wanted to do a 2:05 or under. He kinda looked at me and said "yeah right". We seeded ourselves and before we knew it we were off.

We arrived at Mile 1 and our split was 9:45 and he said "that is way to fast. are you trying to kill me?" I then responded "Matt, you are still talking, you are fine so just suck and up and keep going." The miles go by pretty fast and before we knew it we were already at 3 or 4. We saw Foho come running from behind us and asked what her goal was and she said to PR and break 2. I then said she needed to hurry up and pick up the pace. So after a couple of minutes she disappears. Matt and I keep going and the miles seem to be clicking off pretty fast. Before we know it we are at Mile 10. Shortly after mile 11 we run into Foho again. I ask her what the heck is going on. She said she was out of steam so I just told her to latch on to us and we will pull her in. And that is what we did. Every 5 minutes or so I would keep yelling at her to make sure she was behind us. Then around mile 12 Matt picked up the pace and started running ahead of us so we just let him go. Foho and I were about .25 mile behind him the entire time. Foho started to fade and I kept telling her to keep going and she was almost finished. I then decided to drop back behind her and be her personal cheerleader at her the entire last 1.5 miles. I made sure she didn't slow the pace anymore and helped push her to the finish line. Before I knew it we were done.

I didn't get the time that I wanted but I was able to get Matt in 15 minutes faster than what he projected. And I was able to help Foho get a PR. I am very happy about that. Some races are all about having fun and helping other people. Today was one of those days. I had the best time. Thanks Matt and Foho for making my day!! I am very proud of both of you!!

Here are some pictures....

A big thank you goes out to all that came out... Amy and Matt Bush, Dee, Mr. Evans, Andrea, Foho, all of the Rogue Coaches, Josh, Maggie, Joey, Tim, and if I missed anyone sorry. I can't remember everyone. It is actually funny, people around me thought I was pretty popular because sooo many people cheered for me.

Since I am doing the race tomorrow I decided to hit the gym instead. I don't know if that was the best idea before the race since I hadn't been to this class in ages. This class is really really hard. It is the toughest class they offer. And since I hadn't been in awhile, I had my butt handed to me on a silver platter. This class kicked my butt and then some. I was hurting and think I will be hurting for a couple of days, especially my upper body.

AM

Time: 5:30AM
Duration: ~1:26:00 with waterstops and stop lights
Location: Hills in Westlake

Sport: Running
Workout: Easy 8 miles
Distance: 8.5 Miles
Weather: Cold
People: Team Rogue

I meet up with Team Rogue this morning. I had remember reading on the forum that usually if Steve or Ruth doesn't tell you the route early on in the week that means hills likely to follow. Yep, that is what happened this week. Ruth sent the email early this week on the routes and there wasn't one for today.

It was pretty chilly this morning. I wished I had my gloves and more layers. I started off with my usually group. Good talk and company makes the miles click by pretty fast. Then just as we crossed under Mopac all of the hills started coming and coming. I don't think I was ever so happy to see Ruth at that waterstop. I was planning on doing 8 and the rest of the group was doing 10. I kept thinking to myself, if no one else runs 8 then might as well suck it up and run 10 that way I wouldn't have to run 8 by myself. But luckily another girl also was only running 8. So we turned around and headed back to the store. The run back seemed to go by quickly expect for all of the stupid lights we had to stop for. I was happy to be done somewhat early and head to work on time.

I was ready to for bed around 3pm but I am not going to let running get the better of me. So instead of taking a nap when I got home, I hit the gym . I meet up with Amber to try a new class called 50/50 which I had never gone to. We got there early enough to set up all of our equipment. We had no idea what the heck to get or what the class was all about. The instructor finally comes in and he doesn't look like an instructor. He had a good size belly on him. I figured this class wasn't going to be good. But then we got started and it was actually pretty fun and hard. I really truly enjoyed it. We ended up doing 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight lifting. We did the step for about first half then did some weight lifting for the second part. I enjoyed the class and had alot of fun. I will got back to this one. At the end of the class we started talking about food and learned that he eats like crap and the most fatty food which explains his big belly. For lunch he had 5 tortillas with butter. Geez.. no wonder. Overall really good class and I will go back.

Since I didn't get a chance to get my easy Wednesday run in, I just decided to hit the gym instead. I was planning on running but by the time I got home and got dinner started, it was just too late to run. I wouldn't give my body enough time to recover for my Thursday run.

The class wasn't as fun as I thought it was going to be. I had never done this class before but I thought I would give it a try. I think alot of the time I judge the class by how the instructor looks. And she didn't look to be in that good of shape. The class was pretty boring and slow. And to top it off the music was horrible which made time go by soo slow. I made it through most of the class but ended up leaving early. It just was just too boring and slow for me. Didn't even break a sweat or felt like I had worked out.

Workout: Easy run
Distance: 10 Miles

I was late to the workout. I got stuck in traffic on I35. I was pretty pissed but at least I made it. In the car I was already thinking of ways to cut the route short or debating when I could run today to get my miles in. But thankfully I was at the beginning of the wreck so it went by pretty quickly. I did upset one diver and didn't let him in. It was just cheating and not waiting in line like everyone else was. Everyone had to be somewhere just not him. So I blocked him in. I also always leave space in between me and the car in front of me (Dad always told me to) but he would honk at me if I didn't move an inch. Like an inch was going to get us anywhere. He had pretty bad road rage.

Anyway, finally made it to the workout 15 minutes late. I decided to cut my run short and only do 8. I was kinda scared running by myself but found Bruce. I will call him my personal bodyguard. He was nice enough to run with me for the first half to make sure I was safe. Since he is super fast, I picked up the pace some that way I didn't make him slow down too much. Since we were going faster than my usually pace I decided to go ahead and do 10 instead of 8. Anyway, I turned around at Red Bud and he kept going. I came back the same way we came. I just didn't want to hit the trails by myself. There were actually alot of people and cars out so I felt fine. I am happy it is done!!

This morning didn't get off to a good start. I was planning on starting early because I had to go to work right after the run. Yep, tax season has arrived. Anyway, got up and let the dogs out and went back upstairs to pack my bag and get ready. I go back down stairs find my G2 and breakfast and start to head out the door. Then I go to the backyard to let the dogs in and they are no where to be found. I called and called and only Ellie came back. So I look to see where Cole is and he is no where to be found. Someone or something had opened the gate. So I ran to the front door and Cole is already down the street and around the corner. I call him....nothing Try to run to him but he just keeps running away. So I run back to the house and go get some treats for him. Finally find him again a few blocks down the street. He then realizes I have a treat and comes running towards me. Well, I am not going to carry or push the dog to the house so I decide to make him run home by chasing me to get his treat. It works.

But needless to say I was grumpy and late to the run. I was worried I wouldn't find anyone to run with but luckily I found Andrea and Plic. It was great seeing them and catching up on our lives. I had a great run and I think most of our miles were sub 10:00/min. We were supposed to do 16 but it ended up doing 17.5 miles on top of the 2 or 3 I did chasing the dog. Good run but was happy to be finished. Did I mention the marathon course sucks. Not looking forward to it, but at least it will just be a training run instead of a race for me.

I was soo happy that it wasn't as cold it was supposed to be. I was planning on only doing 6 miles because this was supposed to be our "shorter" run but since I didn't run Wednesday due to getting off work late, I just decided to do 8 instead. Meet up with the girls again and had a nice easy run.

Christmas with the Villegas Family 2008

Tim and I are lucky enough to live so close to be able to spend time with both of our families for Christmas. Christmas Eve is when we celebrate Christmas mostly. We start off by going to church then heading to my parents house for our annual family party. Then Judi and I try to convince Dad that we should open up gifts around mid-night. After about an hour of that he finally gives in.

This year Tim and I hosted the family party. It was alot of fun and can't wait till next year. Here are a few pictures from the party.

Then here a few pictures from opening up the gifts Christmas Eve.

Our 1st Christmas in the New house!!!

Since we did such a great job decorating the house this year, I thought I would share a few pictures.

Outside....
View of our front yard

On the side on the house..

And after... This is the tree in the formal living room at the front of the house.

And our fake tree in our informal living room where we spend most of our time.

I can't wait till next year. I went to pick up some after Christmas clearance stuff and can't wait to put it up next year. Is it December yet?

Today was my 1st day with Team Rogue - Central Austin. I was alittle nervous because I didn't know if I would find anyone to run with because I thought everyone was super duper fast. But I found a good group of girls with. We chatted the whole way. I was planning on doing only 6 miles but after some good company that easily became 8 miles. Good times.

We ran the Austin marathon course today. Let me tell you that this course isn't friendly at all at the beginning. I am sooo glad that I am not racing it. Just using it as a training run. The course is pretty much all up hill at the beginning. I thought I was going to pass out. But after hearing from some other folks, I also heard that they had a rough time too. So I don't feel soo bad. Anyway, ended up cutting some mileage off.

I am going to try to run tomorrow but I have soo much packing to do before Tim and I go to Colorado on Tuesday. We are going to be gone till next Sunday so I doubt I will get any runs in. But I will be skiing. Does that count?

First run of the new year!! I was just happy that I made the run. I didn't care what distance I made. We had to choose between 5 or 8 and since I didn't get much sleep last night and drank a bottle of wine all by myself figured the shorter the better. Last year I was too hung0ver to make this run. But I made it and I was just happy to even be there. We were planning to do a nice easy run but ended up around a 9:00/mile pace.
